In the opening match on Day 2 of the 2024 Care Wellness Kooyong Classic, two of the world’s most promising young guns put on a match that needed to be seen to be believed.

Czech Linda Fruhvirtova roared from the blocks as Australian Taylah Preston struggled through the first set but the Australian Open wildcard from Western Australia clawed her way back to claim the match, 1-6, 7-6 (10-6).

World No. 4 Jannik Sinner returned to the court taking on World No. 11 Casper Ruud. As Ruud struggled with the Melbourne heat, Sinner continued his dominance, cruising to victory, 6-2, 6-3.

Britain’s Sir Andy Murray looks in fine form for next week’s grand slam putting Dominic Thiem through his paces. Murray commanded the match, defeating the Austrian 6-4, 6-2.

In the final match of the day, Zhang Zhizhen defeated Australian Max Purcell 7-6, 4-6 (10-7).
